Speed Awareness Messaging Unit

The SAM2 unit was on Hindringham Road (on the new post) during July and August monitoring traffic speed and the volume of vehicles coming down the hill.

From 10 July – 30 August 2026

  • 7,041 vehicles were recorded coming into the village with an average of 189 per day.
  • The maximum speed was 65 mph at 5:50 am on 28 July, (and the average speeder was travelling at just under 35 mph)
  • The majority of vehicles were travelling at just under the speed limit which is 30 mph. The 85th percentile speed (i.e. of 5,985 vehicles) was 34.3 mph; and the average speed was 27.1 mph.
